Meet Barbara
Barbara Tedrow is a nationally recognized early childhood leader, entrepreneur, and policy advocate with over 25 years of experience building and sustaining high-quality childcare systems. She holds a bachelor’s degree in human resources and a master’s degree in management information systems, and was a licensed insurance agent with Allstate Insurance. As the owner of A Gold Star Academy, she has developed one of New Mexico’s largest early learning networks, serving hundreds of children and families each year. Barbara is known for her expertise in advocacy and early childhood funding, playing a key role in advancing landmark policies including universal childcare and the early childhood trust fund. She regularly trains providers, leaders, and policymakers on advocacy that drives community impact and business sustainability, while also offering deep expertise in regulations, licensing, compliance, and risk management.
